There are different options that users can use for customizing the content area of the template opened in the editor. For example. users can change the width of the area through the percentage slider, content area alignment, background color of the content area, default font, and link color that are used in the templates.

Use of Merge Tags in Email Template

In the Nudge Platform, the registered user can create and customize the templates whether they are for email or SMS nudges, and use them for sending nudges. While creating a template, you can define as many merge tags as you want by employing the symbol '%' across the merge tag name. The merge tag name will be the name that would be the column name of the contact data file that you would use for sending nudges. The system will automatically get the dynamic value for the added merge tag from the recipient file. For example, %Recipient_ID%

The system will dynamically fetch the exact data value against your merge tag from the data file that the user provides while creating a nudge. The system will send the nudge according to the merge tag dynamic value present in the CSV file for email nudge.

Important Note: If the registered user tries to use a merge tag for which there is no value in the contact data file, then the system will not allow him to do that. There must always be a value against the merge tag when you create nudge notification.

While for the SMS and WhatsApp nudges, the registered user can add, view, or delete the merge tag value and merge tag description in the recipient section while creating or sending real-time nudge notifications as shown in the following marked image:

1.61 Merge Tags for Real-Time Nudge Notification

Important Note: The system will dynamically charge the registered user for the real-time nudges based on the number of merge tag values used in it.

There are two types of merge tags, one is specified by the user, and the second is standard which is predefined in the system.

Quick Note: The registered user can utilize as many merge tags in the nudges as he wants, but all of these must be defined in the contact data files. So that the system can fetch their exact data values from there.

Standard Merge Tag

There is a list of standard merge tags that are defined in the system. Their main purpose is to facilitate registered users to employ them in the email nudge templates without defining their values in the contact data files.

In order to utilize the Standard Merge tag in the email template editor, follow the following steps:

Step-01: Place the cursor in the "Title" block and click on the "Merge tag" option which is marked as red in the below image:

1.62 Merge Tags

The system will open the popup window that contains the list of standard merge tags as shown in the below image.

Step-02: You can select or search standard merge tags in order to use them in email templates.

1.63 Standard Merge Tags

Step-03: Click on any of the merge tags i.e., "Name" to add it to the Title block. The following image depicts how it is shown in the email template editor.

By selecting the merge tag from the list, you can write a customized template for email nudges based on your own dynamic data that you want to show in your email campaigns.

Use of "Rows" in Email Template Editor

While creating or editing a template in the editor, the registered user can use the different types of rows for placing content in them. There must always be a row in the template editor for placing content.

Important Note: Without a row, the system will not allow you to drag and drop any type of content in the template editor.

All the rows that are placed in the template editor are adjacent to each other. You can change the placement or position of a row by clicking on it.

There is also an option to add conditions on the row. You can add a condition by clicking on the "Add condition" button.

2.2 Row Condition

Why "Unsubscribe" is Always with a Template

An "Unsubscribe" link is available in the editor whenever a registered user creates a template, and this link needs to always be included in the templates. You may duplicate or remove that link, as well as perform various operations on it to alter it to suit your needs.

The "Unsubscribe" link is always in the template because of its viability and importance. There is a high possibility that the customers to whom the registered user sends emails may want to unsubscribe from the nudge notifications. So, by clicking on this link, customers can cancel their subscriptions when they don't want to receive any more emails from you.

It is a link that can be used in each type of Nudge notification.

Customize the "Unsubscribe" link

Step-01: You can customize the "Unsubscribe" link, place the cursor in the "Unsubscribe" block to change the inserted link setting by clicking on the "Attachment" icon which is marked as red in the following image:

You can change the "Text to display", "Title" and "Target" that are shown in the above image.

Step-03: Click on the "Ok" button to close the insert link window.

Save the Template

The user clicks on the “Save & Continue” button and the system creates a new template which is shown in the template gallery. The new template is created in the “Your Design” tab under the template gallery section.
